i just got my pay not long ago.. and i'm itching to get my canon speedlite 430EX II as well as a cheap 50mm f1.8 II which i've been aiming to get with my IA pay.

With that, i only have my Wii to save up for. plus a family outing that i've been wanting to organise.. my parents are too thrifty to eat out at restaurants at all.. think we have never been to a restaurant until last year when my mom got her friend's discount card to go to sushi tei. and thats about it.

talking about home.. the ceiling of my parent's bedroom almost came down with the rain yesterday..water leaked through the ceiling and all the bedding was wet .. lucky thing there were no gaping holes were formed. i need a new home soon..its about 17 years old already.. my dad scheduled the 'home upgrading project' next year after my graduation.. hopefully that can go as planned.

i miss taking slow walks in the mornings by my neighbourhood... breathing in the fresh cold air..and enjoying the sights around.. as the air around you warms up... so is the hustle and bustle in the area... people start coming out, cars rolling out of the houses, people saying their goodbyes and saying hello again back at the gates, holding packets of oily tasty hawker food...
kinda brings back memories of an old life and happy thoughts..

I'm feeling better.. but it still sucks.

Reason why i was so unhappy is actually because of my work at IA.. actually quite normal for most ppl to feel sian abt it.. but i'm kinda in some deep shit now.

The past weekend i was shuttling back and forth Sengkang and Hougang Library, trying to find better books to help me with this project of mine.. which is related to Excel Visual Basic programming.. Went back to work on Monday.. realised i hadn't got a good enough book.. so i went back again to re-borrow a better book.. Going to work again on Tuesday.. i worked around with the new stuff i've learnt, managed to program one or two simple functions.. but then again.. i'm stuck with another new problem.. $%^&*#

Looking at the rate i'm going at.. i'm worried that i can't finish it on time.. and i'm running out of ways to help myself.. well.. some of you all might be thinking ... why can't i get help from my supervisor? or my colleague? well.. the problem is that tat they only raise the request to do this programming project within excel.. to speed things up for them by programming a search/ enquiry macro within excel.. but then cos they are not IT trained so they can't realli help me.. my coy also does not have IT support staff to help me too cos all the IT work has been subcon out already..

so i'm on my own. i've borrowed the best books i can borrow from the library.. waiting for the library to call me up to collect one more that i've reserved. looked it up on the internet for possible answers, posted my query on the internet.. and i wonder if i can find all the answers this way.. i'm already stuck at the simple stuff.. then what about the difficult parts..

and i cannot say no. i can't do the project. cos i'm an intern. i can't give up. cos my grades weigh on it.
and i cannot say no. cos i'm not a subject matter expert. my in-charge for this project probably won't accept that i can't come up with a solution for this.


actually, you don't need all this difficult programming to find what the engineers need. you can do all of it manually. well. i did just that last week.. was thinking.. wah. whats the big issue about it.. not so difficult mah. After being brief by colleague.. i was clueless.. i wondered why the engineers are having problems looking for the stuff..all the data's already there.. so I used pivot tables to show the engineers what they can do ... since not many people use pivot tables.. i even sent them all the email with the draft of the template i've come up with...

and i felt like a fool after that.
my colleague just went through the thing.. and repeated the requirements of the project as he tried using the pivot table and find it just not 'friendly' enough. Only then i realised. he was just being nice and didnt wanna tell me straight in the face to stop being silly and like a kid.. coming up with such a thing... they would have did that long ago if they weren't looking something so simple..

now i just can't help thinking that they might think i'm just a dumb intern.. wth.

so yeah. dats what i'm unhappy with basically bah. but i guess.. when u are unhappy.. you tend to lump all the unhappiness together and emo about the same time, get pissed over it.

i was thinking... why am so unlucky all the time... or having to struggle so much.
i have to struggle with my studies... i am not really a slacker.. but my grades are always crappy. on the line.. which stresses me out.. when its my turn to support my parents. i wanna do a damn good job at that.
i have to struggle for my ia... i'm given a black listed tutor, plus i'm already not learning enough about stuff related to mech eng.. and i'm stuck wif some support staff work , programmin a code.
i have to struggle with my .... .... tried so hard last time, didnt work out. ended up with other ppl discussing.. say maybe i square. yes i am. i'm traditional, simple ... but some things are not meant for jokes.

but then, i guess. i'm glad to have a good enough family that is financially sound, don't need to apply for grant or bursary.. and my family is close enough.. lesser of those big squabbles though we are all quite quick tempered.. and i have a close circle of friends.. well.. mebbe close circles of friends bah..

so maybe.. that makes up for the lousy parts of my life ?

jus to watch that silly telemovie "Sweet Tapioca Porridge" on it.. its damn cheesy.. but its simple and nice. local telemovies or dramas can be nice .. but not all are nice. some characters are plain silly. and i dun understand why they always get Eelyn Kok to act as some manic depressive crazy girl. I'm glad they dun give such roles to Apple Hong, Jessica Liu and Rebecca Lim. I can also catch up on the 9 pm drama "the dream catchers" which my company sponsored or helped with it.

One more day and it's V-day.. V for Valentines..

For some.. its a day thats bigger and more important than the D-Day for World War 2..

'bcos failure only means that shitty feeling much worse than an atomic bomb dropped on you..

So being one more night till THE day..

have you ordered your flower? booked your restaurant? even made a call to the girl to ask her out even? lol. (hopefully you did... ) i wonder if any girl tried asking guys out on V-day..

For me, i think it is a good thing if you can share the joy of the day.. with somebody you like and make them happy...(i hope you are man.. lol).

I'm glad that this year is a much better year.. at least i get to do that for somebody.. though it wasn't any romantic.. and it isn't on the actual day.. but at least i hope i brought some cheer in somebody's life.. had some quality time together ...

I am also kinda glad that i can help one or two people this year too with their upcomin dates in small lil ways...

To the person i lent my bag to... good luck man.. please bring the lady to our outings when u score ... haha. I wonder what my other db friends are doing for their Vday tomorrow .. lol

Work.

Work has been okay for me for the past month until now.

Until now, i've been doing pretty fine for my first project... not much trouble at all doing it.. just collecting data from my inspectors and then keying it into the excel template.. do some analysis and redo the data mining part if there's any error.. at other times when i'm just waiting for my inspectors to help me perform the tests, i will be totally bored cos there isn't any thing to do at all...

i've been also dozing off alot at work.. die lah. i better bring all the sweets, tidbits, coffee, milo, cereal, (maggee mee?) to work to keep me awake.. else my appraisal's going to be really bad.. i think my superiors must think i'm a bloody slacker.. lol.. keep nodding off.. and blatantly taking 'power naps' in front of them.. wah.. yeah right.. i'm damn 'power' .

However, right now at this moment.. i'm starting to feel the crunch that many of my friends felt.. the feeling of overwhelmed by your IA work.. i'm right now stucked with some excel visual basic thing that i can need to churn up for the company for their database work to improve productivity and another project which i dunno much about at the same time..

jialat.. vba.. how to do sia.. there's no one that's available to guide me to come up with this thing that's totally new.. and yet.. i can't reject the project.. wah lau.

if only i can mass kage bunshin / shadow clone like naruto and mass learn ... i need to speed up my vba learning...

i don't think it's tough that i won't be able to do it.. i'm not going to give up.. but i don't have the time and knowledge.. i just spent the whole day today trying to figure out match, index, offset.. trying to combine them and come up with a working function formula to do a 3 column matching function.. so far.. i only found the solution for 2 column matching for unique entries.. mutter..

i think i will get increasingly anxious if i can't find a solution soon..

On the other hand, having all this work at this time of doubt is good.. the economic crisis realli hit hard this time.. i don't think i need to say more but everybody feels it.. To cope with that.. my company been having shut down.. xmas, cny.. and in the latest general meeting.. there's going to be one in march and april.. this is to save costs... (there goes my pay again.. sian. not getting my 750 'sargeant' salary at all man.. only 600 ++ 'corporal' pay.. wtf) Despite that.. i can feel that business is gradually improving... think the production volume is increasing since my inspection lab is starting to get busier.. and my colleagues are fighting fire everyday.. instead of looking at websites online.

Lets hope this continues and not the other way round.. i don't want to be the first batch of students that are axed from internship cos of poor business.. lol.

anyway.. i feel damn stressed now..

need to head back to my visual basic guide books now..
