day of unfortunate accidents..

this morning, upper serangoon road all the way to yio chu kang rd was jammed because of an accident in the morning near boon keng mrt station... had some trouble getting to work and i stopped halfway and walked to serangoon mrt station instead of taking the usual bus 147.

hope no one got seriously hurt in there.

then again... coincidentally.. while i was walking towards hougang gym after work today from hougang mall.. i noticed some commotion as i got nearer to the gym.. there were a string of people lining the grills along the monsoon drain at the side of the hdb flats and there were 1 CPL fire engine, 1 ambulance, 1 scdf command jeep together wif a police car and 1 red rhino.. i saw this as i got closer..

yep. thats a concrete mixer truck in the monsoon drain along the road in front of hougang mall.. near the gym. apparently it slide down the side cos of uneven ground the truck was driving on. i believe its part of the lift upgrading project for one of the blocks over there and the truck reversed backwards and might have lost control of it.. smashing through the grills and landing on the side.

it was also unfortunate that it also landed on the side of the driver's seat. the scdf was trying to free the trapped man.. but seeing the paramedics at the scene taking an easy step back halfway.. everybody could guess the driver has unfortunately passed away.. which was true as the scdf rescue team extracted his lifeless body and placed it on a stretcher.. covering it up with a white cloth.
