The best of Marina Barrage

Water features

on a nice day with a calm water surface, you can take a nice picture of the flyer and it's reflection.
The picture says it all.. too bad my camera, camera skills and equipment isn't good enough.. else i can take better pictures. I've been to the Marina Barrage for 3 times already, all of which were during the night. I think i can be a Marina Barrage tour guide already haha. Its a good place to hang out with close friends and it doesn't have a closing time (However, the fountain lights dim down after midnight and so does the Singapore Flyer, so the scenery also loses its glitz). The best time to go would most probably be at night but getting there might be a hassle for those without cars. I've never been there in the daytime but i reckon you can walk thru the galleries there. Weekdays are nice if you want a quiet walk with your girl or your buddies for hthts but if you wanna just ' chou chou re nao' you can go there on saturdays.. (you can see Malay families picinicing there with kids folicking in the water features, all the Ah mas and Ah gongs with their family walking, couples on the grass patch snuggling up each other overlooking the nice nightscape of the CBD and the flyer...)

I finally got to explore the new Jurong Point Extension. Did half of it yesterday when me and my teamies "Matthias" Lin Y.K, "Tai zi" Jinhan, Ashley and Darryl, went there for dinner and la kopi. There's alot of restaurants there now and alot more people coming down to the mall to eat man.. (we went to New york New York to check out if how long will our order come .. and they said we need to wait for 45 mins for it to come...) We settled for the Taiwanese Cafe 'Lai lai' instead and we left it smelling like Taiwanese Beef Noodles.
I went back to JP today to look for some gift ideas ... didnt get much inspiration though.. crap.
I got myself an early x'mas present though...!

A Gorillapod. I guess i will survive on this mini tripod till i get enough money to afford a proper one.

-untitled-

i think i've got too many thoughts on my mind.. so i think i should ramble on them online to free up some brain cache .. training is gonna start soon.. so i doubt i can talk much too..

random stuff:
Woke up feeling blurish. i was damn tired after yesterday double outing so i slept at around 1 plus. which is like the earliest of most of my days back at home.

Ranted a lil to old man Andy about something tiresome that's bothering me. i think i need a 'damn bloody good' motivation to restart my engine for it again. Right now i think it's hurting both the new and the old but thats my opinion.. a very selfish one.

On my way back school, as i was on the NEL train bound for outram, i happen to notice that one of the front pacer from one damn bloody good school happen to sit in the same carriage as me. She was wearing a blue cardigan and she was wearing a floral skirt coupled with some shoes with similar floral prints. I'm not accustomed to her wearing such feminine stuff especially as most of the time me and my teamies will see her in the usual training attire that we all are in.. plus she's damn buff lah.. her arms are like Candice's... can see the biceps one. I'm guilty of looking over in her direction alot of times (i saw that she was reading some travel guide to Japan and sporting a new pair of specs .. i think) but not cos i like her lah.. but i just think my image of her and what i was seeing doesn't really tally.. her dress sense is not only v feminine. its also v oldskool. but she looks okay arh. DB girls shld try to ta pan a bit too i guess.. break the stereotype.

And now back in school... it looks like IHG season is in. As 179 turned into school, i could see alot of hall sportsmen dressed in their hall colours streaming in and out of the SRC area. Coming back to my room.. the laundry buckets are both filled with my roomie's clothes but he's no where in sight. I guess he's busy with his othello and i hope his team can win.

i guess thats all the 'no - link' thoughts on my mind right now. there are a couple more where it came from but i think i can only continue my ranting tonite after training.

Night Ops

mmm.. headed to Orchard just now for round 2 of activities for today. bummed into Derick just now.. he was with his gf heading to Art Friend while i was jus heading out of the same shop at Taka.

I didn't manage to find the stuff that i was lookin for tonite man.

can't find the restaurant for one of my meet up sessions next week..
can't find the korean grapes (mebbe out of season?)
can't find the gift that i was looking for.

sianz.
anyway. i'm looking forward to the chunk fest tml man. =)

Its already Friday?

For my IA selection... i picked a project by Infineon.. a non interviewing project actually. I'm too damn scared to pick another interviewing project and chui it. i wonder what would happen if that does happen.

I found out that Denny also kenna the same kinda shit as me... having to go thru phase 2 as well.. and he's picked ST Electronics at Jurong.. same as Boon. Hope Denny does get the same colleagues as Boon cos they seem like nice people when he was attached there.

Hopefully my work isn't too bad too. My company is located at Kallang, which is relatively near my home bah. Just take NEL and then probably a bus and i can reach there le. In fact if you drive down PIE , you can see this huge white building with sails on the side... thats Infineon. They deal mainly with semi conductors and my work there would be somewhat related to the manufacturing side.

Lets see how when it comes...

Its already Friday. 2 weeks since the end of exams le... but it feels as if its a month has already passed by. Maybe i'm not used to enjoying myself so much since i don't really have much time for that during term time.. spending most of my time either studying or dragonboating..

Stuff that i've done so far .. :
1) Explore the Marina Barrage with my roomie - Drove up there one night and its damn good. you can take nice pictures of the city skyline and especially of the flyer.. Unfortunately i didnt have a tripod to help me take some nice ones.. but i managed to get a few nice shots.

2) Eat at the Lavendar Street Food Market - my roomie showed me the way after we went exploring at the Barrage. Happy man.. i finally found where's this place that Leslie brought his Gf to eat the damn famous wanton mee.. i wasn't lucky to try the wanton mee though. nvm.. next time next time!

3) Explore Terminal 3 at the airport - i just did this last nite when i sent off my lawn bowling senior. He's heading to HK to compete in some inter club games. Hope he wins somethin.. Actually. The decor and the infrastructure is somewhat similar to the HK airport the last time i went and there's actually not much stuff to shop there unless u are actually taking a plane. There are DAMN lot of shops inside through the custom gates.

On another note.. the airport seemed exceptionally quiet yesterday. It didn't have that sort of festive feeling or that busy bustling feeling you get during holidays where alot of families fly out of the country to enjoy.. Well .. i guess it must be the economic crisis that affecting everybody these days. My and my friends didnt exactly go check out the situation at the Arrival Hall.. but we were suspecting lots of people must be damn happy to return to Singapore. We wonder if they were thinking along the lines "YAY! finally come back.. dun need to spend money already. wah lau. economy so bad spend anymore can pok kai lor"

4) Tried "cooking" today. Made a 'sloppy joe' sandwich.. its those kind of sandwich which there's alot of thick sauce spilling out. like those burgers you eat at Carls... mmm. non bad attempt. lucky i have my maid to help me up a bit on it.. and i know what to improve and what not.
Only problem i have right now is that i made 2 big portions and crap. Its Friday which means my family actually abstains from meat.. and i have to finish both portions by myself =x (i'm a lousy Catholic.. so i dun really observe this practice except maybe during Lent)

Itinery for next few days:
Saturday.. training and mebbe B&J Chunk Fest?
Sunday .. Meet up with G.. my army friend (btw.. its G for Garang)
Monday .. OG movie marathon and Evening makan session with classmates
Tuesday .. training?
Wednesday .. Canoe and Chiong?
Thursday .. Meet up with my ex-colleague and my roomie

busy busy man. wish i got more time. and more copies of me. haha.

Anyway. my Dad's fallen ill with gastric flu.. hope he recovers soon. Hope my mom won't fall ill too. My dad's the second person i know that has it in this week. To my friend who's sick right now gets well soon man.. Hope you get better soon. Fever and Gastric at the same time really sucks man.

Pictures will come at a later date.

Ouch.

Life hits you when you least expected...

"Please note that you are not allocated to an organisation of your choice."

For me.. its the painful realisation that i did not get any one of my choices in my IA placement form. urgh. machiam strike 4d... but the bad kind. %$^#*@. bo bian. now i have to suck it up and go pick something else i guess... hope i get better luck. i don't think i will go pick any big companies this time and mebbe some non - interviewing project bah.

oh well. i will just have to suck thumb and just pray hard that my selection will go thru tml morning. i actually wanted to do a full update... but i think i lost all the mood to do so le.. think i will go back to playing some fallout 3.

God bless those that lost their loved ones in the Mumbai attacks... esp the family of the lawyer.
Hope the conflicts in Thailand will also be resolved soon.
